Union minister of urban development Kamal Nath and Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda laid the foundation stone of Mundka (Delhi)-Bahadurgarh metro rail link at Sector 9 of Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the state government said the metro project having a route length of 11.182 km would be completed by March 2016 with an estimated cost of Rs 1,991 crore, of which the state government would contribute Rs 787.96 crore.

Seven stations to be constructed from Mundka to Bahadurgarh are Mundka Industrial Area, Ghewra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri Border (all four in Delhi), Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park Bahadurgarh ( three in Haryana). The travel time from Bahadurgarh (City Park) to Mundka will be reduced to just 20 minutes and at the same time, the distance from Bahadurgarh to Inderlok would be covered in 45 minutes and Kirti Nagar in 50 minutes.

An agreement was also signed between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Haryana Urban Development Authority.

SS Dhillon, principal secretary, town and country planning, and Jitender Tyagi, director ( works), DMRC, signed the agreement on the behalf of the two organisations. Appreciating the metro project, union minister Kamal Nath said this metro link would improve the state's connectivity with national capital and improved connectivity would result in expediting the pace of its development.

Hooda said the growth was witnessed in Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida, but Bahadurgarh remained neglected, but this metro link would fix wheels in the development of this area within some years. Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda said now the state government would try to get electric train approved between Bahadurgarh and Delhi by the end of this month.
