New Delhi: After own water bottling plants, Railways has planned to soon have its own fruit drinks.

The railways has also planned to set up a water bottling plant in Amethi which is the Parliamentary constituency of the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

“We have planned to launch our own fruit drinks in the packaged form on the lines of the bottled water sold under RailNeer brand. This will make sure that the passengers have access to better products during their journey in trains,” said Pradeep Kandu, joint general manager (PR) of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd . 

The move has come in a bid to improve the quality of beverages for the passengers on board trains.

Further, Kandu stated that the IRCTC is soon going to add another RailNeer plant in Ambernath near Mumbai.

“The IRCTC has planned six more bottling plants for its RailNeer brand, which will come up in Ambala, Amethi, Farakka and Malda in West Bengal, Thiruvananthapuram and Nashik,” said Mr Kandu.

The Railways currently has three RailNeer plants at Delhi (Narela), Danapur and Palur near Chennai.

The upcoming water bottling plant near Mumbai will have a capacity of two lakh bottles of one litre capacity each per day, the general manager added.
