Title - Railway minister reviews Mahakumbh preparations

ALLAHABAD: Minister of state for railways (Kotla) Jai Surya Prakash Reddy arrived at Allahabad on Saturday and took stock of the preparations for the Mahakumbh.

He arrived at the Allahabad railway junction and sought information regarding various passenger enclosures and other facilities being provided to pilgrims at the station.

Alok Johri general manager of North Central Railway informed him about the traffic movement plan and told the minister that pilgrims going in different directions from Allahabad railway junction are being taken to different enclosures. After that, trains are given platforms and passengers taken to their destinations.

Later, the minister also inspected the Sangam area and examined preparations by the railways for the important bathing days of Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami. He also inspected various PRS and UTS counters set up in the Mela area from which passengers are purchasing tickets. Reddy exhorted railway officers and employees that they should make Mahakumbh a grand success and ensure that passengers do not face any problem to reach their destination.

During the inspection, besides Johri, Harendra Rao, divisional railway manager of Allahabad division and various heads of departments and other senior officers of Allahabad division were present.

Meanwhile, minister of state for railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhry will arrive in Allahabad on Sunday from Lucknow. He will inspect Allahabad railway junction and also visit Sangam area and take stock of the railway preparations for Mahakumbh. He will then proceed to Varanasi.
