Visakhapatnam: Special counters have been arranged for the people to pay the fare hike of railway ticket which came into effect from January 22.

A release said the passengers who had booked their tickets in advance at the previous rates for their journey on or after January 22 have to pay the difference of fare at booking counters at railway stations or to the travelling ticket examiner on boarding the train. Until new tickets are printed, the ‘old printed card tickets’ will be issued after making the necessary corrections in fares made on the tickets in advance. Such alterations by the staff would be made preferably by stamp or in ink.

For the convenience of passengers, payments of difference of fare are accepted by the railway staff at the current booking counters, reservation counters at major reservation offices and major stations. Rail users are requested to utilise these special counters to avoid last minute rush and inconvenience.

The difference of fare to be paid by the passengers will appear in the reservation charts also. The detailed revised passenger fare tables are also available on the website www.indianrailways.gov.in.
