The protesters reportedly stopped the Howrah Amritsar mail, Andaman Express (Jammu – Chennai) and goods train near Gurdwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib.Sikh protesters blocked railway tracks to protest against acquittal of Sajjan Kumar Hundreds of protesters including women and children, who protested against denial of justice to the victims of Sikh Genocide 1984, sat on dharna for four hours on railway tracks. As per media reports the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar also joined the protest and then called it off at 9:30 am after performing prayer to get justice. It is worth mentioning that thousands of Sikhs were massacred during the first week of November 1984 in Delhi and elsewhere in India. The killings of Sikhs were carried out in form of different massacres, that were part of a wider plan of genocide of Sikhs.Indian state system did not only suffered the failure to deliver justice to the victims and try/punish the culprits; rather it patronized and rewarded the culprits with political seats. | ||
