New Delhi : The Centre on Saturday blamed the State government for delay in deciding employment cases of affected families whose land has been acquired for Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district. The Union Railway Ministry claimed in a statement that  111 cases for employment have been withheld by the State Government in July 2011 on account of re-verification and  are still lying with district administration Islamabad (Anantnag).According to the ministry, 333 cases for employment have been received from district authorities for appointment.  “While 172 family members of the land losers have already been given the jobs by Northern Railway and in 48 cases the wards of the land loser were found ineligible due to reasons like not fulfilling requirements of educational qualification, over-age etc,” the Ministry said .“111 cases have been withheld by the State Government in July 2011 as the district authorities detected that in such cases the documents submitted by the land losers were forged or fabricated which required re-verification. The district administration desired that these cases may be returned to them for re-verification and all such cases were sent to the district administration. The re-verified cases are still awaited from the district authorities,” it said, adding the remaining two cases are under process.
Referring to stopping of trains at Anantnag (Islamabad) and Qazigund stations by affected families in support of the demand, the Ministry the process of providing jobs to verified cases by the State government has been already set in motion.
“There is no delay by Railway in providing jobs to eligible person after verification by State Government & Railways,” the handout further read.
