Mumbai: Central Railway (CR) has begun work on the widening of the new foot-overbridge (FOB) at Vikhroli station after a portion of land on which an illegal construction stood was cleared.
Due to the encroachment, CR was unable to provide a landing for the FOB. The encroachment was cleared after the Supreme Court directed Shankar Joganpalli, owner of Vinayak Arcade, to submit an undertaking that he would dismantle the structure or part of it within six weeks.
Joganpalli’s counsel told the court on April 30 that his client had begun the process to remove the encroached portion. ACR official said, “The landing will be widened to 6m on either side of the station from 3m.”
