Title - Food-poisoning: 15 train passengers taken ill

At least 15 passengers of the Ernakulam-bound Marusagar Express from Ajmer (no. 12978) were taken to various hospitals here after a suspected food-poisoning incident late on Saturday.The passengers, including children, were taken to hospitals in ambulances arranged by Railways when the train reached the Kasaragod station by 11 p.m., Railway police sources told The Hindu.Some of the passengers who complained of vomiting at Mangalore Junction station, when the train pulled in by 9.45 p.m., were taken to hospitals there.Others who showed symptoms were detrained in Kasaragod, they said.

All stable

They said all passengers were stable. Quite a few people, including mediapersons, streamed into the station following of the incident.

Sources said food-poisoning could not be confirmed. Passengers had reportedly taken non-vegetarian food supplied in the train.

The train was at the Kasaragod station at the time this report was filed.
