Title - Kerala jeweller detained for possessing gold jewellery

He was about to board a train to Coimbatore.A Kerala-based jeweller was detained by the Railway Protection Force personnel at the Chennai central railway station here on Sunday for possessing 1.75 kg of gold jewellery.According to Inspector of Police (Bomb Squad) Sanjay Pannickar, the RPF personnel who were on a routine check detected the gold jewellery worth Rs. 48 lakh in the baggage of Vinod Kumar (40). He was about to board a train to Coimbatore when he was intercepted and detained.On information, officials of the Commercial Tax Department visited the spot and levied a penalty of Rs. 50,000 on the passenger. He was later allowed to go, the RPF sources said.

Restored to parents:::In another incident, the RPF personnel rescued a teenager who was reported missing. The 13-year-old boy of Coimbatore was reported missing by his parents a couple of days ago. A team on patrol duty saw the visibly frail boy sitting on a bench for long.

On enquiry it was found that he was the one reported missing in Coimbatore. He was handed over to his parents who reached Chennai on information, the sources added.
