Title - Social science workshop concludes - The Times of India

ALLAHABAD: A two-day workshop on 'Advanced research methods in social sciences' concluded at Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (SHIATS) on Friday. The workshop was jointly organised by department of anthropology and department of agricultural extension education.SHIATS chancellor JA Oliver was the chief guest while director distance education Prof Newman Fernandes was the guest of honour. The second day of workshop started with a technical session conducted by Anjesh Srivastava of GB Pant Social Science Research Institute, Jhunsi.He presented statistical package for social sciences (SPSS).Prof SB Mishra, ex-dean, faculty of agriculture, Kanpur University explained the step to be followed while a research report in detail while writing a report. Prof JP Srivastava spoke on report writing. Gautam Ghosh, dean, Allahabad School of Agriculture and Rajendra Kumar director seed were guest at valedictory session.The welcome speech and sketch about the departments was given by Prof Jahanara, Head department of Anthropology and Extension Education. The introduction the guest was given by Prof JP Srivastava. A brief introduction of the lecture of workshop was given by Prof Dipak De, Head department of Extension Education BHU, Varanasi. tnnProf VS Sahay, Head department of Anthropology, Allahabad University gave presentation on Chowre tribe of Andaman and Nicobar Island.

RPF personnel awarded for meritorious service: Railway Protection Force (RPF) has announced awards for its personnel to encourage them to personnel exceptional service. Five RPF personnel of North Central Railway have been awarded this year.NCR general manager Alok Johri gave meritorious certificates and memento to five RPF personnel -- inspector Shiv Kumar Singh, sub-inspector Updesh Kumar Kaushik, constable of Jhansi division Awadhesh Kumar, head constable of Allahabad division Jai Prakash Yadav and constable in headquarters Harendra Tiwari. Johri congratulated the RPF awardees and hoped that they would continue to serve the railways with utmost devotion. tnn

The foundation day ceremony of RPF was also celebrated on the occasion.

Chief security commissioner of RPF Anoop Srivastava took salute of the parade at RPF line at Subedarganj. Srivastava stressed on the importance of hard work, dedication and loyalty and urged RPF personnel to incorporate these qualities in their service.
