The State government and L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad intend to make the elevated project into a people’s transport system and one that meets the needs of different sections of the society, said Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration & Urban Development) B. Sam Bob here on Monday.He was speaking at the prize distribution function for winners of the various competitions held in elocution, essay writing and quiz held for girl students and housewives by the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Limited at the Exhibition Grounds.About 59 prizes were given away with cash vouchers worth Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 for the first three in different contests while the L&TMRH has presented sewing machines and bicycles.HMR MD N.V.S.Reddy said the contests held over the weekend were an effort to understand the needs, concerns and expectations of the women about the project. Appreciating the suggestions presented during the last two days, he said these would be discussed with the technical experts for incorporating them into bogies and stations’ design.“The students have highlighted the need for ensuring last mile safe transport connectivity to the stations, homes and offices. We will be looking into that,” he said. |
