SINDRI: Sindri town unit of the Ajsu Party staged a daylong dharna at the railway station here to press for reviving one trip of Sindri-Dhanbad passenger train which has been suspended for the past six months.The train used to take four trips to Sindri and back to Dhanbad in a day. But the divisional railway authorities have stopped one trip starting from Dhanbad at 10.05am and returning to Dhanbad by leaving Sindri at 11.25am citing losses. The railway authorities also held this trip of train responsible for delayed arrival and departure of the evening trip of this train.Addressing the gathering, party activists said stopping one trip was causing immense problems to the students and poor villagers for whom this train is the cheapest mode of transportation available and demanded its resumption. "Students and villagers living in remote areas on the Sindri-Dhanbad section are finding it difficult to attend their classes and meet other obligations for want of proper and cheap mode of transportation," a leader said. tnnadding that many a girl students who had joined different courses at Dhanbad have stopped their further education and training because of cancellation of this trip of Sindri-Dhanbad train. A memorandum was also submitted to railway authorities regarding this demand on this occasion in which the AJSU activists have also threatened to launch massive agitation if their demands were not conceded.
