Ludhiana : Railway pensioners have written to the Railway Minister. They have urged the minister to provide specialist doctors at the Sub-Divisional Hospital at Ludhiana Railway Station. The Northern Railway Pensioner Welfare Association has alleged that the hospital is ill-equipped and not able to address the problems of the railway employees as well as pensioners.Earlier, there was only a heath unit at the railway station, which was no more than a dispensary. The Railway Board got the unit upgraded to a sub-divisional hospital in 2009.Though the building and infrastructure were upgraded two years ago, the number of doctors is still the same. Now, all the required equipment are available in the operation theatre and emergency unit. However, these are useless due to unavailability of doctors.Sher Singh, chairman, Northern Railway Pensioner Welfare Association, said: "We are demanded the appointment of orthopaedicians (MD and MS) and cardiologists at the hospital." | ||
