sushil | Chandigarh rail link with Ludhiana to be inspected on 05 April, 2013 - 03:00 PM
The inspection of the Chandigarh-Ludhiana rail link is likely to be conducted on April 15 by the Railways Safety Commission. After the commission gives clearance, the rail link will become operational. Lack of clearance is the last hurdle in the opening up of the rail link that has already taken more than a decade to be completed.Once clearance is received, the Railways will be able to start passenger trains on the track. Among those to be shifted to the track will be the train between Chandigarh and Amritsar. At present there is one train between the two stations. Once the track opens a parallel train will be started. The engine trial on the track was conducted in February. Following this, a goods train was also plied on the track. However, before the passenger trains are made operational, the green signal has to come from the Railways Safety Commission.
