MUMBAI: The commencement of Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Faridabad comes at a good time for Gateway DistriparksBSE 3.17 % as slowdown in the economy has impacted its Container Freight Stations (CFS) business.The company operates in three business segments - CFS, rail and cold chain. Over the last nine months, slowdown in the economy has resulted in flattish growth in port volumes. Subsequently, CFS operators have reported a subdued earnings. CFS is a set up where export oriented cargo is loaded or unloaded into containers.Gateway's rail freight business on the other hand, continues to remain strong on the back of new route additions. The ICD at Faridabad is expected to commence operations in first quarter of next financial year. This will add volumes to its rail business in future. In addition, the company is expanding its presence in the cold chain business. It plans to increase its pallet capacity in the cold chain business by 40% by the end of this financial year.At current market price, the stock is trading at a P/E of 11, while its peers such as Allcargo LogisticsBSE 7.01 % and ConcorBSE 0.01 % are trading at a P/E of 7 and 14 respectively. | ||
