Heavy rains continue to lash parts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra for a second day Saturday as authorities battled to clear water-logging and restore train services between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.In south Gujarat, Hansot taluka of Bharuch district recorded one of the maximum rainfall at 220 mm during the last 24 hours ending 4 pm Saturday. However, Jamnagar received the highest rainfall in the state at 290 mm, as per the figures released by the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar.Both Valsad and Surat city received 183 mm and 182 mm rains respectively.Meanwhile, train service between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which was disrupted after railway tracks got flooded, has been restored.Due to continued heavy downpour in Surat and Valsad cities on Saturday, the 16 trains were delayed for several hours, according to an official release issued by the Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway.The Express trains that were running late for two to eight hours include those headed for Jaipur, Bikaner, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Lokshakti, Asansol-Bhavnagar, Kochiveli-Bhavnagar, Dadar-Bhuj, Puri-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express.Trains including Ahmedabad-Haridwar, Bhuj-Bandra Sayajinagri, Bandra-Bhuj AC Express, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Shatabdi Express, Ahmedabad-Puri Express, Bhanagar-Kakinada Express and Jamnagar-Surat Intercity Express also departed late on Saturday with delay ranging from one-and-a-half hours to seven hours, said the WR release. | ||
