Online ticket booking portal www.irctc.com, run by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd, will soon enter e-commerce, according to reports. The railway ministry’s arm will compete with other retailers such as Flipkart and Yebhi. It will first start retailing books and mobile phones and later venture into home furnishings and electronics. IRCTC managing director RK Tandon told Hindu Business Line that IRCTC has called for bids from firms already in the e-commerce space. IRCTC has over 20 million registered users. | ||
