Hyderabad: Two Metro rail stations will be built at Khairatabad and Lakdikapul to enable easy access for visitors to Secretariat and other government offices in the area. A skywalk will be constructed from Khairatabad station over the railway tracks, to end near the Imax theatre.Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy said that  buses will be operated from  Khairatabad and Lakdikapul stations to Secretariat, BRKR Bhavan, GHMC office and other government offices located near Secretariat to provide comfortable transport facility to employees and visitors of Secretariat and other government offices.Municipal minister M. Maheedhar Reddy on Monday reviewed the progress of metro rail works with senior officials after inaugurating the department’s conference hall in L-block in Secretariat.  N.V.S. Reddy informed the minister that metro rail works are progressing at a brisk pace and in coordination with GHMC, Water Board, Traffic Police, AP Transco, APCPDCL and other utility organisations, HMR is successfully tackling the challenges that are cropping up from time to time.He said the presence of hard rock, flyovers, high volumes of traffic, huge water pipelines, sewer lines, electrical cables etc., are posing several challenges in the core area and that HMR and L&T are devising site specific engineering solutions to tackle them.

Reddy assured the minister after he asked, that the metro rail alignment will not affect any lake or heritage structure and that with careful engineering solutions, metro rail alignment is kept about 80 to 300 feet away from them.
