Over 100 residents of hundreds of households in railway colonies at Kallukuzhi and Crawford protested with empty plastic pots at Tiruchi railway Junction to invite the attention of the authorities to the difficulties they had been subjected to due to erratic water supply.The protesters, many of them women, wanted prompt action by the authorities to restore normal water supply through carrying out repairs in the damaged water pipeline from Sarkarpalayam.They feared that the water supplied now and then through the pipeline was contaminated.A senior official held talks with the protestors and persuaded them to withdraw with an assurance of immediate water supply through tankers.The official gave an undertaking that water would be supplied to the overhead tanks in their localities till the pipeline was set right.
