LUCKNOW: In order to clear extra rush of passengers during Kumbh Mela at Allahabad, Railways has decided to run special train number 04117/04118 between Allahabad and Anand Vihar. The train number 04117 Allahabad-Anand Vihar special will depart from Allahabad at 11.45 pm on February 17 and 18 to reach Anand Vihar Terminal at 09.45 am the next day. In the return direction, train number 04118 will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal at 11.30 am on February 18 and 19 to reach Allahabad at 10.15 pm the same day. The train will comprise one AC-2 tier, one AC-3 tier, 12 sleeper coaches, four general class and two disabled friendly second class cum luggage van coaches. The train will stop at Fatehpur, Kanpur, Etawah, Shikohabad, Firozabad, Tundla, Aligarh, Khurja and Ghaziabad stations in both the directions.
On the other hand, the Mauni Amavasya tragedy at Kumbh Mela seems to have made Railways extra cautious, and it is focussing on all its resources to handle the rush of devotees during Kumbh till March 10. The railway board had diverted/cancelled and partially cancelled about 14 pair of trains between December and February due to fog. The trains were to resume their run on February 17. However, to fulfil the need of special trains and spare coaches during Kumbh, the Railways extended the cancellation of the trains till March 17.
The board has given operational reasons and the continuing fog as the reason behind the extended cancellation of trains. "But, it is more to meet the requirement of spare coaches in Kumbh," said sources. Railways has extended the cancellation/partial cancellation/diversion of the trains, which were affected during the foggy weather, by a month. The trains which were to resume their normal run from February 15 will now start normal movement after March 15. Train number 15011 Lucknow-Chandigarh Express will start run after March 15, while the train in return direction will start the run after March 16. Train number 14265/14266 Varanasi-Dehradun Express will resume its run on March 15/16.
Train number 13039/13040 Howrah-Delhi Janta Express will start operation after March 15/17. Similarly, 12873/12874 Jharkhand SJ Express, 14005/14006 Sitamarhi-Anand Vihar Licchavi Express, 14309/14310 Ujjain-Dehradun Ujjaini Express, 14043/14044 Kotdwar-Delhi Garhwal Express, 14211/14212 Agra-New Delhi Intercity and 14681/14682 New Delhi-Jalandhar Express will also start running after March 15.
The partial cancellation of trains 13111/13112 Kolkata-Delhi Lal Quila Express, 13007/13008 Howrah-Sriganganagar Toofan Express and 15003/15004 Anwarganj-Gorakhpur Chauri Chaura Express will also continue till March 15/17. The diversion of trains 13237/13238/13239/13240 Patna-Kota Express will also continue till March 15/16.
