PATNA: East Central Railway (ECR) GM Madhuresh Kumar inaugurated the renovated station building of Patna Junction at Karbigahiya side on Monday. This building will be the second exit of Patna Junction.Kumar inspected the passenger amenities available on the railway platforms at this end. Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said the Karbigahiya end would cater to the needs of a large number of people of south Patna who prefer to use this end. Passenger amenities have been given top priority at this state capital station. Patna Junction has also been brought under round the clock cleanliness, he added.The GM said a direct connectivity from middle foot overbridge (FOB) to platform number 10 would be a great relief to passengers now. Patna Junction has now 10 platforms to cope with huge traffic rush every day. A separate booking counter, which was set up at Karbigahiya end, would fulfil the needs of passengers round the clock, he said.

According to the GM, a spacious parking space has been developed at the Karbigahiya end. "Railways will ensure that there is no traffic congestion at this end during peak hours. Patna Junction has a big parking problem during peak hours. But the new plan envisages systematic functioning of traffic in the circulating area of Karbigahiya end," he said.

The GM said Railways has chalked out a comprehensive plan to streamline traffic movement from Patna Junction. Security has also been stepped up at all major stations falling under the ECR, he said.
