Following the bomb blast in Bangalore, railway police has beefed up security at the Dindigul railway station.They also undertook an awareness campaign, to alert passengers at the station and also those travelling by trains, here on Thursday.While checking baggage, a team of police personnel distributed pamphlets containing dos and don’ts to passengers travelling on the Nagercoil to Mumbai Express and other trains.“It is a continuous process and we are sensitising passengers to be extra vigilant. Cooperation of passengers in this connection is essential”, said Railway Police Inspector Shiva Kumar.Passengers should not lift any unclaimed baggage and if they spot strangers moving in a suspicious manner, it should be immediately reported to the railway employees or the RPF or railway police personnel.“They may contact us on 9962 500 500”, he added.“We have planned to stick bills containing this contact number in all compartments, in stations and in prominent places in the station to enable passengers to pass information. Besides, passengers should not allow strangers to look after their luggage and also should not to agree to look after the baggage left by others”, he advised.Do not accept any eatables, soft drinks or ‘prasadams’ offered by strangers as it might contain poisonous materials.Protect your gold jewels when you sit near windows and have an eye on your children, were other warnings given to women passengers. | ||
