The Railways will start levying the new tatkal charges announced in the Railway budget 2013-14 from passengers for the journeys commencing from April 1.
The revised tatkal charges will be 10 per cent of the basic fare for reserved second class sitting and 30 per cent of the basic fare for all other classes, a railway release said.
The minimum tatkal charges /maximum tatkal charge for each class will be as follows.
Reserved second sitting Rs.10/Rs. 15,
Sleeper Rs. 90/Rs. 175,
AC Chair car Rs.100/ Rs. 200,
AC 3 tier Rs. 250/Rs. 350 
AC 2 tier and above Rs. 300/ Rs. 400.
