Some miscreants beat up some passengers and looted cash and other articles in Ramshwaram-Varanasi express train early this morning.

The miscreants entered the S3 coach when the passengers were asleep and looted them before jumping off the train after pulling the chain in Gopiganj area in Sant Ravidas Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, a government railway police(GRP) spokesman said.

A similar incident had taken place near Phaphund station after the miscreants boarded Neelanchal express at Aligarh station and fled away after looting the passengers yesterday.

The cases were registered in both the cases while the search for the criminals was on, the spokesman added.
