East Central Railway (ECR) will augment coaches to regular trains and run 12 special ones to clear Holi rush over the next fortnight.While six of the special trains will start from Patna, the rest will ply between Darbhanga and Bareilly (04313 on April 4), Saharsa and Firozpur (05215 on April 3), Gaya and Delhi (03685 on April 4 and 11) and Muzaffarpur and Mumbai (01058 on April 5 and 12).From Patna, special trains are available to Delhi (04021 on April 5), Jabalpur (01712 on April 4 and 11), Ahmedabad (09410 on April 7 and 14) and Mumbai (01054 on April 7).“Most of the trains bound for Delhi and Mumbai are jam-packed and seats are not available,” said ECR chief public relations officer Amitabh Prabhakar. “Enough berths, including in AC-II and AC-III classes, are still available in these trains. One AC-III coach will be attached to 12561 Darbhanga-New Delhi Swatantrata Sainani Express. On Sunday, one sleeper class and one AC-III coach have been attached to 15279 Saharsa-Adarsh Nagar (Delhi) Poorbiya Express. Similar step was taken for 15273 Raxaul-Old Delhi Satyagraha Express.”

On safety for passengers, Prabhakar said: “To deal with such incidents, the railways have already deployed Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).” Special teams have also bee deployed to keep a tab on illegal activities at stations.
