BJP cadre staged a rail blockade demanding resignation of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for his ‘saffron terrorism’ remarks suggesting that the BJP breeds ‘terror cells’ in the country. The cadre, led by State president M. Visweshwaran, and district secretary Arul Murugan, blocked Karaikal-Tiruchi passenger past noon, demanding that Mr.Shinde revoke his statement. Stating that the comments were not befitting a Home Minister of a country, the party pledged that their agitation would be upped until Mr. Shinde tendered his resignation. Over 200 functionaries were taken into custody following the blockade that delayed the passenger train by over half an hour. | ||
