MUKTSAR: Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal today announced starting of the Janshatabadi train between Ferozepur and New Delhi. He said, all the formalities will be completed soon so that train starts running at the earliest. The railway minister said, Punjab had not got its due during the last sixty years in getting the railway network and other facilities and it was natural for him to ensure that Punjab gets its due along with other parts of the country.Responding to the public demand for a direct train between New Delhi and Ferozepur, he said, it was a long pending demand of the people of the area and he felt immense pleasure in announcing it today. He also said that he was exploring the possibilities of extending the Delhi-Bathinda train to Fazilka to ensure that Fazilka also gets directly linked to Delhi.Earlier in his speech Congress Working Committee member Jagmeet Brar alleged that the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had deliberately not allowed or encouraged investment in railways in Punjab since he feared that his transport business will be affected by a better transport network.Bansal also announced that the railway ministry would encourage the proposals for the construction of railway overbridges in the state on partnership basis according to which half of the expenses will be borne by the state government and half by the railway ministry. He said, some states had already adopted this practice and his ministry will welcome similar proposals from Punjab also. | ||
