MANGALORE :The Southern Railways has appealed to land owners near railway tracks to cut trees or prune the branches leaning towards the track.A press release by the Palakkad division of Southern Railway said here on Saturday that it will help in the smooth operation of trains during the monsoon season.Incidents of trees falling on the railway track, especially in Malabar area, are increasing due to heavy rains in the region. This disturbs the rail traffic and causes hardship to travellers, the release said.“Trees leaning towards railway track from private land create threat to railways. They may fall at any time on running train or on the track. This may cause serious injury or even death to the travelling public and damage to the railway properties. In addition, it could lead to disruption of traffic arising out of accidents,” the release said. | ||
