Additional coaches may be attached to this passenger train. Union Minister of State for Railway K.H. Muniyappa has said that, Bangalore-Talaguppa passenger train would halt at all railway stations along the Shimoga-Talaguppa stretch.Both MP B.Y. Raghavendra and the former Minister Kagodu Thimmappa, who spoke at the programme organised to mark the inauguration of extended train serviceshere on Saturday, thanked Mr. Muniyappa for restoring the direct train service between Talaguppa and Bangalore which was suspended to facilitate gauge conversion.They said the people of the villages in Shimoga and Sagar taluk would benefit immensely from the gauge conversion if the Bangalore-Talaguppa train halted at Kotegangur, Ripponpet, Arasalu railway stations. Mr. Muniyappa said he would instruct the officials to ensure that the train stopped at all stations en route Shimoga to Talaguppa. The Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders showered praises on each other at the programme. In their speeches, both Mr. Muniyappa and Mr. Thimmappa of the Congress appreciated the interest shown by the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and Mr Raghavendra in securing sanction for new railway projects for the region. Mr. Yeddyurappa said that as the railway network in Karnataka was poor, the State government opted for cost-sharing model. Mr. Muniyappa told reporters later that the Railways would think of attaching additional coaches to the Bangalore-Talaguppa train. | ||
