Visakhapatnam: The Vizag Development Forum, as part of its efforts to redress long-pending issues confronting Waltair Railway Division, launched ‘10,000 Post Card Campaign’ highlighting five main issues.

The cards would be posted to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Youth leader Rahul Gandhi, Railway Minister Pavan Kumar Bansal and Railway Board chairman Vinay Mittal as there was every possibility that the Ministry of Railways may again ignore granting Special Railway Zone and introduction of new trains in the ensuing Railway Budget.

Giving details about the campaign, Forum founder Cheruvu Ramakotaiah, who was made strenuous efforts for the launch of international flights from Visakhapatnam, told reporters here on Saturday that among the 69 Railway divisions in 17 zones in the country, Waltair Division was in the sixth place in terms of profits through passenger traffic and transport. However, it was being neglected in each budget, he said.
